Safe, Welcoming, Respectful, and Caring

Every student is entitled to a welcoming, caring, respectful, and safe learning environment that embraces diversity, nurtures a sense of belonging, and supports a positive sense of self.

Our approach to student discipline is grounded in the Alberta Education Act and aligns with the Calgary Board of Education’s (CBE) Administrative Regulations.

We focus on supporting student growth while encouraging reflection and learning from experience. Our goal is to help students become independent, responsible citizens who can make thoughtful decisions. We strive to protect the rights of everyone in the school community, ensure that classrooms and school spaces support effective learning, and help students build positive self-discipline through understanding the consequences of their choices.

Examples of acceptable behaviour include, but are not limited to demonstrating respect for self, others and the school
environment through:

  • respecting differences in people, their ideas and their opinions, including when there is disagreement
  • embracing all diversities
  • respecting the needs of others to work in an environment that is conducive to learning and teaching
  • respecting the rights of others.

At Cranston School, we believe that maintaining a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning and working environment is a shared responsibility between students, staff, and families. We appreciate your partnership in helping us foster a school community where everyone can thrive.
