Parent-teacher conferences are an opportunity to engage in conversation about your child’s learning. Parents/guardians and teachers are able to connect face-to-face and communicate openly about student learning, especially with respect to areas of strength and areas of growth. They help build and sustain respectful relationships that allow both parties to share information and develop strategies to support student success.
Conferences at Cranston School
If you have questions or concerns about your child’s learning at any time throughout the year, we encourage you to contact your child’s teacher directly. Ongoing communication between home and school is essential to student success.
The school hosts a "Meet the Teacher" open house in September, and formalized teacher conferences in November and March. We encourage legal guardians to attend these conferences together regardless of marital status or custody disputes. Legal guardians may bring a third party (i.e., stepparent, relative, or friend) with them to conferences at their discretion, however third-party members cannot be present at an interview without a legally connected parent present i.e., a stepparent cannot attend alone in lieu of a legal guardian.
The school remains neutral in all family matters and will not engage in resolving disputes between guardians regarding conference attendance or scheduling.
