Principal's Post

As another wonderful school year draws to a close, I would like to thank our students, families, staff, volunteers, and community partners for making this such a memorable year at Cranston School. Together, we have celebrated learning, built friendships, embraced new opportunities, and continued to grow a school community grounded in our shared values of Peace, Hope, and Harmony.

The end of the school year is naturally a season of both celebration and transition. Before looking ahead, we would like to pause and recognize the following staff members who will be moving on to new adventures in the CBE and beyond. Their care, dedication, and contributions have helped shape the Cranston story: Ms. Gates (Grade 4 Teacher), Ms. Ingram (Lunch Supervisor), Ms. MacEwen (Grade 3 Teacher), Mr. Blesson (Bookkeeper), Ms. Nasser (Physical Education Teacher on temporary contract), Ms. Patton (Grade 3 Teacher on temporary contract), and Ms. Wiebe (Grade 1 Teacher on temporary contract). We would also like to extend our warmest wishes to Ms. Aebli and her growing family as they prepare to welcome their first baby this summer. We can't wait to meet the newest little Cranston crane!

Looking ahead, we are excited to share an update for the 2026–27 school year. In addition to being selected by the province to receive a Classroom Complexity Team consisting of one additional teacher and two additional educational assistants, Cranston School has also been allocated three additional classroom teachers through the Government of Alberta's Class Size Reduction Grant. These additional staffing allocations will allow us to create more homeroom classes, reduce class sizes in key learning areas, and provide even greater support for our students.

Creating class groupings is one of the most important responsibilities we undertake each spring. Over the past several weeks, our staff has worked collaboratively to create balanced learning communities for next year. These decisions are made thoughtfully, with the best interests of all students at heart, and we appreciate the trust families place in us throughout this process. Families will receive notifications from their child's classroom teacher on Friday, August 28.

As our school logo reminds us, cranes migrate with the changing seasons. Some of our students, families, and staff are preparing to take flight toward new adventures, while others will return to familiar skies this fall. Wherever this summer takes you, we hope it is filled with rest, laughter, and time together.

For those who will be moving on, thank you for being part of the Cranston School story. For those returning, and to the many new families joining us in the fall, we look forward to welcoming you on Monday, August 31 to begin another exciting year of learning together.

Sincerely,
Mrs. George
