Principal's Post

If there is one thing we can count on in Calgary, it’s unpredictable spring weather! One day feels like winter, the next day feels like spring, reminding us that “April showers (and snow?) bring May flowers.”

Despite the chilly weather outside, there are exciting signs of growth happening inside our school. Our new Culinary Grow Wall in the Hub is already thriving, with lettuce and bok choy that is nearly ready for harvest. It has been wonderful to see students stop to observe, ask questions, and make connections to their learning. We encourage you to check out our Instagram account to see photos of this exciting addition in action.

Reminders and Ramblings

  • Kindergarten Registration Reminder: If you have a child who is or will be turning 5 this fall, please register them for kindergarten as soon as possible. Early registration helps us plan effectively and ensures your family is included in our upcoming Welcome to Kindergarten Orientation in May.
  • Parking Lot Safety: A reminder to all families using the Drop & Go area on the south side of the school, please do not jaywalk or make U-turns in this area. These actions create unsafe conditions for students and families. Thank you for helping us keep everyone safe. SOON you will see some special Cranston Student Safety Ambassadors in the Drop & Go area! They will be trained and ready to encourage and walk your child from your car to their entrance door so that you can confidently Drop & Go without leaving your vehicle.

Cranston School Council Corner

Did You Know? Did you know there are two groups that support our school; School Council and Parent Society, and they each play a different role? School Council focuses on communication and collaboration with administration, while Parent Society supports the school through fundraising and events that enhance student experiences. There are plenty of ways to get involved, with a level of commitment that works for you!

Our Art Card Fundraiser is underway! Student artwork has been submitted and can be turned into personalized keepsakes like greeting cards, notebooks and more! This is fun way to celebrate creativity while supporting the school. Keep an eye on backpacks in the coming weeks for ordering instructions. We can’t wait for you to see your child’s artwork! And don’t worry, the original artwork will be returned to you regardless of whether you place an order.
