Principal's Post
Halloween at Cranston!
We are looking forward to some Halloween fun at Cranston School this Friday, October 30! Students are welcome to wear costumes to school, but dressing up is optional. Please leave costume masks and props (such as swords, wands, or other accessories) at home so they do not get lost or broken. For the safety of students and staff with severe food allergies, please do not send edible treats to share with classmates. We also ask families to limit the amount of Halloween candy sent in school lunches and snacks. Too much sugar can make it difficult for children to focus and learn.
A big thank you to Cranston School Council and Sobeys Cranston for donating a pumpkin to every classroom this week! We appreciate your generosity and the fun you help bring to our school.
Reminders & Ramblings
School Logo Clothing:
School logo clothing will be sent home with students who ordered this week. We look forward to seeing everyone wearing their Cranston Crane clothing with pride! The school logo clothing store will re-open in the Spring.
Lost & Found:
Please Check by Wednesday! Last week, we placed our Lost & Found items on tables so students could easily look for missing belongings. Items will remain on display until Wednesday, October 28 at noon. After that, all unclaimed items will be donated to charity. Please remind your child to check for missing jackets, hoodies, hats, mittens, and other items. We have limited storage space and cannot keep lost items for long periods. Please label your child's belongings so we can help return lost items to their owners!
Fridays Are Important Learning Days!
We know Fridays are shorter at CBE Schools, but they are still full of meaningful learning! Our teachers plan important lessons, activities, and opportunities for students to practice and build on their skills throughout the week. When students miss Fridays regularly, they miss valuable instructional time. Thank you for helping your child arrive on time and ready to learn every day of the week!
School Council Corner
It was wonderful to welcome new members at our October 20th School Council meeting! Fresh perspectives brought great ideas for building a strong sense of community among Cranston School families. We're excited for what's ahead! Please note that for the next few "Winter" months we will be holding Council Meetings online only. Our next meeting will be online November 17th from 6:30-7:30pm. Watch for the link in a future Cranston Connection email.
Casino Volunteers Still Needed! Thank you to everyone who has signed up for our December 13th & 14th casino! We still have shifts to fill, and without enough volunteers, we risk losing $80,000+ in funding for our students. Did you know? Casino funds helped upgrade our school's sensory room and school sound system last year, benefiting students today and for years to come! There is no experience needed to volunteer at the casino! It's a fun way to meet other parents while making a huge difference for our school. Please consider signing up for a shift! Visit our school website cranston.cbe.ab.ca for information on the Fundraising Society Casino.
