Principal's Post
This weekend, we celebrate the many people in our lives who nurture, guide, encourage, and care for others with love and compassion. On behalf of the staff at Cranston School, we wish all those celebrating a restful and meaningful Mother’s Day weekend. We would like to send a heartfelt shout out to all the mothers, stepmothers, grandmothers, foster and adoptive parents, guardians, aunties, and all those who hold a meaningful caregiving role in the lives of children. We also hold space for those for whom this day may feel complicated, tender, or connected to loss. The care, patience, encouragement, and countless unseen acts of support that happen each day make an incredible difference in the lives of our students. Thank you for all the ways you help them feel loved, supported, and ready to learn and grow.
Reminders and Ramblings
Spring Concert in the Park
We are looking forward to celebrating student learning together at our OUTDOOR Spring Concert in the Park on May 25.
Students who are able are invited to attend and perform in groups beginning with:
- 5:20 – Kindergarten / Grade 1
5:50 – Grade 2 / Grade 3
6:20 – Grade 4
Each group will perform approximately three songs, and families who wish to stay until the end will be invited to join us for a final song featuring all grades.
This is a casual, community-style concert. There will be some chairs set up on the compound, but families who are able are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or a small blanket to enjoy the performance amphitheater-style on the hill.
Food trucks will be serving on site from 4:30 to 7:30 PM so that families can enjoy snacks before, during and after the performances.
Please make note and plan accordingly:
- The school building will be closed during the event, except for limited bathroom access.
- All children attending the event must be accompanied and supervised by an adult at all times
- The large Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 200 Cranston Drive has generously offered up the use of their parking lot.
- Parking around the school will be VERY limited. We encourage families to walk, take Calgary transit, or ride bikes. If your family must drive, please do not block driveways and do not park in the staff parking lot.
Cranston School Council Corner
Did you know? Did you know Parent Society fundraisers are always optional, but every order, donation, or volunteer shift helps support opportunities and experiences for our students? We’re so grateful for the continued support from our school community!
Art Cards went home on Friday! Student artwork can be turned into personalized keepsakes like greeting cards, mugs, calendars, and more! This is a fun (and completely optional!) way to celebrate creativity while supporting the school. Keep an eye in backpacks for ordering details.
Coming Up: School Council will be at Kindergarten Orientation on May 14 to meet new families and share ways to get involved. We’re also looking forward to seeing everyone at the Spring Concert in the Park on May 25, featuring food trucks and a fun evening for our school community.
