Welcome to Kindergarten
On Thursday evening, we had the pleasure of welcoming 73 of our newest Cranston learners to our Welcome to Kindergarten Orientation. The excitement and energy was wonderful to see as these children and their families began imagining themselves as part of our Cranston School community.
Next Year Planning
As we plan for the upcoming school year, we ask current families to please let us know as soon as possible if you will be moving. Accurate student numbers help us thoughtfully plan staffing, organize classes, and call back students currently attending overflow schools to fill available spaces. It also ensures students are registered for transportation at the appropriate school location ahead of the deadline.
Reminders and Ramblings
Spring Concert in the Park
Spring Concert in the Park – Monday, May 25: Our OUTDOOR Spring Concert in the Park is quickly approaching, and we are looking forward to an evening of music, celebration, and community. Food trucks will be serving on site from 4:30–7:30 pm, including Arepas Ranch, Avatara Pizza, Family Fry Guy, Kona Ice, Mini Donuts, and Uzu Ice Cream.
Students who are able are invited to attend and perform in groups beginning with:
- 5:20 – Kindergarten / Grade 1
5:50 – Grade 2 / Grade 3
6:20 – Grade 4
This is intended to be a casual, community-style, outdoor event. Families are welcome to come and go between performances as their schedules allow. With all 600 students invited to perform, seating and parking will be limited. Families are strongly encouraged to bring lawn chairs or a blanket for amphitheater-style seating on the hill. Families who are able are encouraged to walk or use Calgary Transit. We would like to thank both Dr. George Stanley School and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (both located on Cranston Road) for generously allowing families to use their parking lots during the event.
Please note:
- The school building will be closed during the event, except for limited bathroom access. Please plan accordingly.
- All children attending the event must be accompanied and supervised by an adult for the duration of their attendance.
- Please leave all 4-legged family members at home. No dogs, other than service dogs, are allowed on school property.
Cranston School Council Corner
Casino in December 2026
Exciting news! Our next Cranston Fundraising Society casino has officially been approved and will take place this December at the Deerfoot Inn & Casino! This is our biggest fundraiser by far (held only once every two years) and raises upwards of $80K for the school, helping fund major program enhancements and student experiences. The fundraising society will be looking to fill a variety of volunteer shifts but no experience is required. Parents who have volunteered for casinos in the past consistently share that it is a lot of fun, a great way to meet other school families, and yes, there are always great snacks! More details and sign-up information will be shared closer to the date.
