Principal’s Post
April Showers bring May Flowers!
We didn’t get much for showers in April and May is starting off looking warm and dry, but we know the rain will come! Now is a good time to pack some extra socks in your child’s backpack for those days when the puddles get tempting.
Loose Parts
We are in need of some specific loose parts. If you are able to collect and donate any of the following loose parts between now and May 15, we will happily add them to our classroom collections.
- Pop can tabs
- Pom-poms
- Corks (cleaned with soap and water please)
- Beads
- Bread bag tabs
- Twist ties
- Feathers (store bought only)
What are loose parts and what are they for? Loose parts are open-ended materials that can be used and manipulated in many ways to increase engagement, develop abstract thinking skills, and solidify conceptual understanding. Reminders & Ramblings
After School Office Pick-Up
The front office is very busy at the end of the day. We kindly ask that you refrain from calling us for early dismissal of your child during the last 10 minutes of the school day as it is challenging for us to relay the message while we manage busses. If your child needs to leave early for an appointment, please let the office know in advance and sign them out when you arrive. Thank you for your help with this.
Some Exciting Changes are coming to the Compound Soon!
We would like to thank School Council for paying for the painting of some games on our compound! Soon the students will have basketball keys, 4 square, shoots and ladders, bean bag toss, line tag, hopscotch, and a dual-purpose wall ball and hockey court to enjoy at recess and with families in the evening.
The Grade 3 & 4 Spring Concert is taking place on May 15
This is a free but ticketed event. Each family will receive TWO free tickets. The front doors will open at 5:45pm and the concert will start at 6:00pm and will run for approximately 30 minutes. Every spectator who enters the gym will need their own ticket. There will also be a dress rehearsal during the day on May 15. That performance will not require a ticket so that additional family members can attend.
Spring Extravaganza
School Council is hosting a fun evening for families before, during and after the Spring concert on May 15. There will be a variety of food trucks set up in the parking lot 4:30pm-7:30pm and some fun activities on the compound. Bring your lawn chair and come for a visit! Students should be accompanied and supervised by an adult at all times as there is no staff supervision. In addition, there will be NO ACCESS to the school (including washrooms) during the Spring Extravaganza and no food or drink will be permitted in the gym during the concert. Please plan accordingly.
