Principal’s Post

During a recent professional development day our staff took part in a workshop put on by a company called “Play Perspective.” They loved it so we thought we would bring it back for Cranston parents and guardians! The parent/guardian only workshop will take place at the school on Tuesday April 15 from 6:30-7:30pm.  Play is one of our very first learning tools. It helps children to discover their voices, their toes, their limits. Loose parts play uses versatile, open-ended materials that children can manipulate, move, construct, and transform during play, encouraging creativity, problem-solving, and imagination. In this hands-on workshop, Donna Gimbel from www.playperspective.ca will engage parents/guardians in a fun and interactive experience, reconnecting with the power of play. Participants will leave with an understanding of why schools are now re-investing in what has long been considered a critical component of a holistic education.

Reminders & Ramblings

Family Math & Science Night

    • The Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) will be joining us for our upcoming Family Math/Science night taking place at the school on Thursday April 10. The school will be open from 6pm until 8pm for students and an accompanying adult to play some math & science games together. Students must bring an adult in order to attend. We are not assigning specific drop-in times but would like to encourage families with older students to try and attend during the second half of the evening if possible. This allows us to naturally spread out the crowd while giving younger students an opportunity to attend in the first half and get home to an earlier bedtime. We hope you will join us!
  • Please remember that there are no dogs allowed on Calgary Board of Education property which includes anything inside the perimeter sidewalk as well as our back compound, play structure and hill. In addition, dogs cannot be off leash on the city field which includes the soccer field, baseball diamond, and pathway. Thank you for your attention to this.
