Principal’s Post
January is always a busy and important month in schools. With online registration for the 2026–2027 school year now open, our office staff and administrators are truly “living in two seasons” as they continue to support this year’s learning while also planning and preparing for the year ahead.
Cranston School continues to be a lottery school. We currently have students in overflow at McKenzie Lake School and McKenzie Towne School, which means we do not have enough space to accommodate all students designated to Cranston.
As was done last year, new registrations for students living in the community of Seton will be reviewed and placed into a lottery, depending on available space and resources at each grade level. New Seton registrations that do not secure a spot at Cranston School will be placed on a priority call-back list at our second overflow school, McKenzie Towne School, and will be offered spaces at Cranston if and when they become available.
More information about the CBE lottery process can be found on the CBE website.
To help us determine how many spaces may be available next year at Cranston, we ask that all current Cranston School families complete and return the orange notice that was sent home and was due last week.
As shared with families in September, all current Grade 4 students residing in Seton will be placed into the Dr. George Stanley School lottery for Grade 5. Seton students who do not secure a spot at Dr. George Stanley will be overflowed to McKenzie Highlands School.
When completing the orange form for your Grade 4 child, please be sure to indicate whether your child has an older sibling who will still be attending Dr. George Stanley next school year. This information is important for planning purposes. Additional details about the Dr. George Stanley lottery and overflow process are available on their school website.

School Council Meeting
Our Monthly School Council Meeting will be online only this month and next. We are excited to welcome a guest speaker from the Active and Safe Routes to School program, who will share:
- Data collected from the Fall parent transportation survey
- Current planning underway to address traffic concerns in the community
I would also like to acknowledge Mrs. Goodall and Mrs. Grummett for volunteering their time to lead our Active and Safe Routes to School Student Ambassador Club. Student and teacher voice are essential in this work.
Families are encouraged to join us online at 6:30 PM on Tuesday, January 20, using the link emailed to you.
