Principal’s Post

YEAR END FAREWELLS, WELCOMES, AND APPRECIATION

  • As we wrap up the school year, we want to take a moment to say a heartfelt goodbye to four valued members of our Cranston School team who are moving on to new adventures within the school board. Ms. Hartmann (Kindergarten), Ms. Wong (Grade 4), and Ms. Patolot (Temporary Kindergarten) have each made a meaningful impact on the students, families, and staff in our community. We are so grateful for the care, creativity, and dedication they brought to their classrooms, and for the many ways they supported the growth and learning of our children. We also say goodbye to Ms. Mann, one of our lunchroom supervisors, and thank her for her time and contributions to our school. While we will miss them all dearly, we wish them the very best in their next chapters and know they will continue to make a difference wherever they go.
  • We are excited to welcome Ms. Goerzen to the Cranston School faculty as a new Learning Leader. Ms. Goerzen brings a wealth of experience, a deep understanding of literacy instruction, and a strong passion for inquiry-based learning. Her leadership and enthusiasm for student-centered education will be a wonderful addition to our school community.
  • We would like to extend our sincere thanks to our School Council for their support and involvement throughout the year. Their time and efforts have contributed to a positive school community and helped enhance the learning experience for our students. We appreciate their partnership and commitment to Cranston School.

Reminders & Ramblings

INDIGENOUS PEOPLES DAY RECOGNIZED FRIDAY JUNE 20

The CBE Indigenous Holistic Lifelong Learning Framework identifies the following four, interconnected domains:

  • Yellow – Spirit – To Be
  • Red – Heart – To Belong
  • Black – Body – To Do
  • White – Mind – To Know

On Friday June 20, we invite students and staff to wear one of the colours (yellow, red, black, or white) of the Holistic Lifelong Learning Framework or ribbon skirts/shirts as we recognize Indigenous Peoples Day.

SPORTS DAY RE-SCHEDULED:

With the heavy rains expected this weekend, we have made the decision to move sports day from Monday to Tuesday afternoon. This will allow the field to dry up, making for a safer and more enjoyable event on Tuesday.

BUSSING:

Families must register to ride the school bus by Sunday, June 22, 2025 for students to be added to routes for the start of the next school year. The Calgary Board of Education continues to accept registrations after the deadline; however, students are added to the closest existing bus stop with available space. Processing times for registrations submitted after the June 22 deadline will be delayed. Confirmed routes will be posted in August. For those who register after the June 22 deadline, it may take until mid-October before your child is able to ride the bus. Transportation can be cancelled with no financial impact by submitting the cancellation form by Sept. 30, 2025.

FEES:

Please log into your child’s MyCBE account to ensure all school fees for the year have been paid. Outstanding fees not paid within 180 days will be referred to a third-party collection agency by the CBE.

NEXT YEAR PLANNING:

If your family is moving or your child will be attending a different school next year, please notify the office as soon as possible. Knowing this information early allows us to prepare important transition documents and share key learning information—helping your child start off strong and be set up for success in their new school.

LIBRARY BOOKS:

Please return all library books this week so we can get our collection ready for next year. Overdue charges may be added to accounts for unreturned items.

LOST AND FOUND:

Our lost and found is overflowing! Please remind your child to check for any missing items as soon as possible. All unclaimed items will be boxed up and donated on Wednesday June 25. This is the final opportunity to reclaim any lost belongings before they are passed along to charity.
