Principal’s Post
As the weather warms up, we are noticing more and more children staying to play on the playground after school with no adult supervision. Students must go directly home when the bell rings and can only return with parent/guardian permission/supervision. In some instances, children come back into the building well after the bell to inform us that their adults have not arrived to pick them up. This is a safety risk as there is NO school staff supervision on the school field, compound or playground after the bell rings. Supervision on the playground after school is a parent/guardian responsibility.
We are also managing MANY late pick-ups from the front office after school. In some instances, students are waiting in the office for over an hour after the bell. We dismiss at 2:45 Monday to Thursday and at 11:45 on Fridays. School staff attend meetings, professional learning, personal appointments when the school day ends. Some of these meetings are held off site. Please ensure that your child is picked up on time. Providing a staff member to supervise them when you are late costs the school money and prevents that staff member from attending their necessary meetings.
Thank you for your attention to these important safety reminders.
Reminders & Ramblings
The Grade 3 & 4 Spring Concert is taking place in the gym on May 15. Tickets to the concert are free. Each family will receive TWO tickets. The front doors will open at 5:45pm and the concert will start at 6:00pm. It will run for approx. 30 minutes. Every spectator who enters the gym will need their own ticket. There will also be a dress rehearsal during the day on May 15th. That performance will not require a ticket so that additional family members can attend.
Spring Extravaganza: School Council is hosting a fun evening for families before, during and after the Spring concert on May 15. There will be a variety of food trucks set up in the parking lot 4:30pm-7:30pm and some fun activities on the compound. Bring your lawn chair and come for a visit! Students should be accompanied and supervised by an adult at all times as there is no staff supervision. In addition, there will be NO ACCESS to the school (including washrooms) during the Spring Extravaganza and no food or drink will be permitted in the gym during the concert. Please plan accordingly.
