Principal’s Post

At this time, the CBE is preparing for an Alberta Teachers’ Association (ATA) strike. This means that Teachers, Principals, and Assistant Principals will not report to work beginning on Monday, Oct. 6 and all classes will be cancelled. Do not send your child to school during the strike. Transportation will also be cancelled. Do not leave your child at a bus stop during the strike.  Should anything change before Oct. 6, families will be informed by the CBE. The most up to date information can be found at www.cbe.ab.ca

The Calgary Board of Education has also determined that all upcoming On-Site and Off-Site activities will be cancelled between Oct. 6-31 due to labour action set to commence on Monday, Oct. 6. These dates could be extended depending on when labour action is resolved. For the month of October, the following school events have been cancelled:

  • School photo day Oct 7 (cancelled)
  • October Healthy Hunger Fun Lunch (cancelled)
  • October 21 School Council Meeting (cancelled)

Teacher, Principal and Assistant Principal email accounts will be de-activated. Access to Google classroom and other CBE applications will also be turned off. Your child will not be able to log in during the strike. The CBE made this decision with careful consideration of several factors such as supervision of student learning, lack of instructional guidance and student privacy, safety and security due to the absence of teacher supervision.

In addition, schools have been instructed to send personal items home with students. Your child will be bringing their indoor shoes home in their backpack. Please remember send their indoor shoes back to the school on the first day that classes resume.

Again, should anything change before Oct. 6, families will be informed by the CBE. The most up to date information can be found at www.cbe.ab.ca

Be safe. Be well.

Sincerely,

Mrs. George and Mrs. Bodley
