Principal’s Post
This past Thursday we hosted our annual “Meet the Teacher Open House.” This event is always a highlight as it kicks off the school year. It was great to see so many families exploring classrooms, connecting with staff, and getting a glimpse into the exciting year ahead. Your presence and support help us build a strong school community, and we are excited for all that is to come.
A special thank you as well to our special guest Emily from Ever Active Schools. Emily joined us on Thursday evening to introduce the Active & Safe Routes to School program and begin the data collection phase. In partnership with the City of Calgary, Emily and Ever Active Schools will be working with two of our teachers and a group of student leaders this year to encourage active travel and address traffic concerns around Cranston School.
We would also like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Auburn Bay Domino’s Pizza for generously providing dinner for our staff on Meet the Teacher night. Evening events extend the workday to 12+ hours for our staff, and thoughtful gestures like this mean a great deal to our team!
Reminders & Ramblings
- We understand that many Kindergarten families would like to spend time on the playground with their children after morning pick up or before afternoon drop off. However, during those times, our Grade 1 - 4 students are outside for their lunch recess. To ensure a safe and well-supervised environment for all students, the school property is reserved for school use only during the school day. This means that, for safety and supervision reasons, we ask that Kindergarten families refrain from using the playground areas during school hours.
- Join us for the first Cranston School Council Meeting & AGM: Cranston School Council will be holding its first meeting of the year, including the Annual General Meeting (AGM), on Tuesday September 16 at 6:30pm in the school Learning Commons. Parents and legal guardians are welcome to attend in person or online using the Microsoft Teams link below. These meetings are a great opportunity to connect with other Cranston School families, share your voice and ideas around how fundraising dollars are used, and stay informed through the monthly admin report from Mrs. George and Mrs. Bodley. We hope to see you there and look forward to your involvement in shaping a great year ahead!
