Principal’s Post
Students and staff engaged in a Truth and Reconciliation assembly today with sharing from some of our students and a special guest (and Cranston family member) Champion Chicken Dancer Dashayne Morin. Please peek at our Instagram account for video and photos of this special performance.
Tuesday September 30 is National Day for Truth and Reconciliation - originally Orange Shirt Day. As we continue our commitment to Truth and Reconciliation while embracing Indigenous ways of knowing as a school community, we encourage families to attend the event at the Confluence downtown, hosted by the CBE, Calgary Catholic, and the City of Calgary. This event takes place from 9:00am-10:30am on Tuesday. You can find more information here .
Reminders & Ramblings
- Monday is a Non-Instructional Day. There are no classes for students on Monday September 29.
- Tuesday is National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. All CBE schools are closed on Tuesday September 30.
- The Alberta Government requires that families complete an annual demographic verification form to confirm each child’s attendance at school and provide funding for each child’s education. If you have not already done so, please complete the form online by Tuesday September 30.
- Sign in to your MyCBE account
- Click on the SchoolEngage icon
- Select the demographic verification form
- Complete or review and update the form
- Click on Submit to send the form electronically to the school
- Repeat steps 3-5 for any other forms in the list
Thank you so much for helping us ensure your child's education is funded. - School Spirit Days Next Week: Wednesday Oct 1 is BACKWARDS DAY. Students and staff are encouraged to go inside out and backwards with their clothing on that day. Thursday Oct 2 is TEAM SPIRIT DAY. Students and staff are encouraged to wear their favourite team jerseys or favourite team colours on that day.
- Fun Lunches: These will begin later in October. Please note that Alberta Health Food Safety policies prevent us from holding food overnight. If a student that has ordered a lunch is absent, the parent/guardian can be contacted to pick up the lunch from the school. Any remaining lunches must be discarded.
- This year, we’ve partnered with Ever Active and the City of Calgary as part of the Active & Safe Routes to School project. This initiative provides ongoing support to encourage active travel and address traffic concerns around school zones. As part of this project, we’d love your help! Please take a few minutes to fill out the Family Travel Survey that was sent to your main contact email. Your feedback will give us a better understanding of how students get to and from school, as well as any challenges along the way. Your input will help make school travel safer and easier for all students. Thank you for sharing your voice and supporting this important work!
