As we head into Winter Break, I want to thank our students, families, and staff for a wonderful first half of the school year. It has been a season filled with learning, growth, and connection, and we are so proud of the way our students continue to stand proud, spread their wings, and support one another.
This time of year also marks the Winter Solstice, an important moment connected to the natural cycles of the land, marking the shortest day and longest night of the year. It signals the return of longer days and the renewal of the sun’s strength, and is traditionally a time for reflection, gratitude, and coming together. The Winter Solstice reminds us of the deep relationship between people, the land, and the changing seasons, relationships that continue to guide learning and ways of knowing today.
When we return in the new year, there is so much to look forward to! Families will have the opportunity to purchase new school logo merchandise, and students will enjoy some exciting learning experiences thanks to the generous support of our School Council, including a Bhangra Dance Residency and a Calgary Opera performance. Fun and engaging field trips are on the horizon as well! We are especially excited to welcome many new students into our community, bringing with them new friendships and fresh connections.
As we pause for the break, we recognize that many different holiday celebrations take place between now and our return to classes on January 5. No matter how your family celebrates, we wish all of you a safe, restful break filled with moments that bring you comfort, laughter, and meaning in ways that are special to you.
