Principal’s Post

Thanksgiving offers an opportunity to reflect on the people, relationships, and experiences that shape our lives. Gratitude is sometimes expressed through grand gestures, but more often, it is found in the ordinary moments and everyday interactions that we can easily overlook.

At Cranston School, we see those moments in the care teachers show their students, the encouragement children offer one another, the dedication of our staff, and the many ways families contribute to our school community. None of these things happen in isolation. They are built through relationships, trust, patience, and a shared commitment to helping children learn and grow.

We are grateful for the trust, partnership, and support of our Cranston families as we experience the joys and challenges of learning and growing together. Your kindness, encouragement, and willingness to work alongside us make a meaningful difference in the work we do each day.

This long weekend, we hope you found time to enjoy the people and moments that matter most to you. From all of us at Cranston School, we wish you a restful and enjoyable Thanksgiving.

Reminders & Ramblings

A Reminder About Nuts and Nut Products

We have students and staff at Cranston School with severe nut allergies. For their safety, please do not send nuts or nut products to school. This includes spreads such as Nutella! Thank you for helping us keep our school environment safe for everyone.

Dress for the Weather – More "Fluffy Rain" Is Coming!

The temperatures are dropping, and what Mrs. George likes to call “fluffy rain” has already made an appearance! Please make sure your child comes to school dressed for Calgary's ever-changing weather. Warm jackets, hats, mittens, extra dry socks, and appropriate footwear will help keep students comfortable during outdoor recess and community walks. Please label EVERYTHING! Every day, our Lost & Found fills up more and more with belongings that we cannot return because they have no student names on them. We do not have the space to house a large Lost & Found indefinitely, so we regularly deliver unclaimed items to local Calgary charities. Taking a moment to write your child's name inside their clothing and on personal items makes an enormous difference in helping us get things back to their owners.

Individualized Program Plans

Families who have children on Individualized Program Plans (IPPs) will soon be contacted by their child's teacher to discuss and sign the plan. It is important that you sign and return the back page of the plan to your child's teacher by October 23.
