The Cranston Olympics Are Coming! 🏅
From February 6–20, our school will come together to celebrate the spirit of the Olympics, friendship, unity, and peace. The Cranston Olympics are a chance for students to showcase their best effort, perseverance, teamwork, and sportsmanship through a variety of fun and inclusive whole school challenges.

Some of the highlights will include an indoor Cranston Olympic Torch Run on February 6, a Race to the Podium challenge where grades will track country medal counts on a large graph in the hub, and sure to be popular “Dress Like the Olympic Rings” days:

  • Monday, Feb. 9: Wear Black
  • Tuesday, Feb. 10: Wear Yellow
  • Wednesday, Feb. 11: Wear Green
  • Tuesday, Feb. 17: Wear Blue
  • Wednesday, Feb. 18: Wear Red

We will also take part in a meaningful “Champions Feed Champions – Knock Down Hunger” challenge, reminding us that teamwork and caring extend beyond competition. We are hoping to collect a CHAMPION SIZED amount of cereal to support the Calgary Food Bank. Our goal is to “knock down hunger” by building an Olympic-sized domino track of cereal boxes through the school on Friday, February 20, before sending the boxes along to the Calgary Food Bank. If you would like to help, please send cereal to school with your child starting from February 6 through February 19. Do you think we can collect 2026 boxes? Let’s try!

Reminders & Ramblings

  • There are no classes tomorrow, Friday January 30 as all Calgary Board of Education staff will be participating in professional development offerings across the district. Please do not send your child to school on Friday, January 30th.
  • February is Black History Month, a time to recognize and celebrate the contributions and experiences of Black people in Canada and around the world. Throughout the month, students will learn about stories of leadership, resilience, and community while exploring the importance of respect and inclusion.
