Principal’s Post
**** School Council Meeting CANCELLED this week due to unforeseen circumstances ****
Substitute Teachers
Last week we celebrated Substitute Teacher Appreciation Week. Our guest teachers step in whenever members of our staff are away, ensuring that learning continues smoothly in our classrooms. We are fortunate to have many substitute teachers who return to Cranston School regularly and we embrace and appreciate them as part of our school community.
Years of Service
We also recognized several staff members this week who received CBE Years of Service Awards for 5, 15, and 20 years of dedication to public education. These milestones reflect years of commitment to supporting CBE students so they can learn and thrive. Congratulations and thank you for your service!
Club Friday
This past Friday we also launched Club Friday, and the energy in the building was palpable. Students joined mixed-grade groups to explore interests ranging from sticker making and robotics to cooking and outdoor exploration. We are excited to have three more Club Fridays later this spring.
Spring Concert
Now for something new! We are excited to announce a brand-new Cranston School event coming up this Spring! On May 25, we will be hosting our first-ever Spring Concert in the Park evening, taking place outdoors on our school compound. All grade levels will participate, and the best part is that no tickets will be required, meaning there will be space for all family members to attend. We are also planning to have food trucks on site that evening, so families can gather for a meal while they enjoy the music. Please mark your calendars and we will share more details in the weeks ahead.
Reminders & Ramblings
Parent-Teacher Conferences
Student-Led Conferences are coming up this week. We look forward to welcoming families into the school to celebrate their children’s learning with us. These conferences are designed for students to share their learning, so please remember to bring your child with you at your scheduled time. All conferences must be booked online through your MyCBE account by Wednesday evening.
- Conference Times:
- March 19 – Kindergarten conferences (8:00–11:00 am and 12:30–2:30 pm) No school for Kindergarten students
- March 19 – Kindergarten to Grade 4 conferences (4:00–7:00 pm)
- March 20 – Kindergarten to Grade 4 conferences (8:00–10:00 am) No school for all students
Dress for the Weather
Puddle Season is Here! With warmer weather arriving this week, we are sure to see plenty of puddles on the playground. While puddles can be fun to explore, staff does their best to keep students away because they lead to wet socks and pants. But sometimes the puddles are just too enticing for little feet! Please consider packing an extra pair of socks and pants in your child’s backpack just in case the puddles win... If you happen to have gently used sweatpants or leggings, or new socks, that you would like to donate to the school, we will gratefully accept them for our spare clothing supply.
