Cranston Can
As a staff, we have asked ourselves how we can create structures and processes during the school day that ensure every child receives the additional time and support they need in literacy in order to move them forward in their learning. “Cranston Can” is a multi-tiered support structure that will take place twice a week for every student in the school. It will allow teachers to use the data gleaned from Provincial and teacher designed assessments to re-group students across the grade in order to drive meaningful and targeted literacy instruction that meets students where they are at and move them forward. Mr. Murray and Ms. Kenna will also work with small targeted, actionable and measurable learning intentions (in student friendly language we call these “I Can” statements) that will support students in knowing where they are, where they are going, and their next steps for learning. “Cranston Can” will allow us to effectively respond when students are not learning while also enriching and extending the literacy learning for students who are already proficient. Ask your child what “I Can” statement they are working on for Cycle One of Cranston Can!
Winter Concerts
We are excited to share that this year’s Winter Concerts will feature our Kindergarten, Grade 1 and Grade 2 students. Don’t worry grade 3 and 4, we have a concert planned for you in the spring!
The Kindergarten Winter Concert will take place at 6:00pm on Wednesday December 11. There will be a 2 ticket per family limit for the evening concert so that we stay within our fire code. There will be daytime dress rehearsals that will be open for kindergarten parents/guardians to attend. More information to come.
