Principal’s Post

What a wonderful evening we had at our Meet the Teacher Open House on Thursday! The energy throughout the school was fantastic as students proudly showed their families their classrooms and introduced their teachers. Thank you to all of the families who joined us!

A big thank you as well to Cranston School Council for helping make the evening so much fun. From arranging the Kona Ice truck and designing a fun family scavenger hunt, to hosting the School Council information table and filling the bellies of our teachers with dinner from Sobeys and Subway, your support was greatly appreciated!

Student Drop-Off and Pick-Up Safety

Student safety is a shared responsibility. As parents and guardians, it is essential that we model safe driving and pedestrian habits. Your children are watching and learning from you.

Unfortunately, there continues to be unsafe driving and pedestrian behaviour happening around the school every day. Due to the seriousness and frequency of these concerns, the school has contacted the Calgary Police Service and Calgary Parking Authority to request additional support monitoring.

  • No U-turns: U-turns around the school are extremely dangerous and illegal. This includes using the school parking lot driveway to turn around. Please take a route that allows you to approach the school in the direction you need.
  • Use the crosswalk: Please do not jaywalk with your child. Model safe behaviour by using the crosswalk.
  • Drive down the Drop & Go zone: Do not stop in our parking lot entrance. Stopping early causes unnecessary traffic congestion. The sidewalk extends the full length of the zone, and your child can safely walk from any point. A little exercise is good for the brain!
  • Stay in your vehicle: Please do not leave your vehicle unattended in the Drop & Go zone. This area is for quick drop-offs only.

A few minutes saved is never worth risking a child’s safety. Thank you for slowing down, following the rules of the road, and helping us keep all Cranston students and families safe.

A Message from School Council & Fundraising Society

It was great to meet so many families at Meet the Teacher Night! A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by our table to say hello, learn more about School Council, and find out how to get involved. We loved meeting so many new faces!

This year, we need your help more than ever! Our biggest fundraiser, the School Casino on December 13 & 14, is a huge opportunity for our school that helps fund major items and experiences for your children. But we can’t make it happen without parent volunteers! No casino experience is required, there are lots of different shifts and roles, and it’s a fun way to meet other parents while making a BIG impact. Please check your email. You will find the link to join the meeting in this week’s Cranston Connection email. We always try to make it easy to participate in whatever way works for you. Come learn about what’s happening around the school, meet other parents, and see what School Council is all about. We’d love to see you there!
