Weekly Message February 12-16

  • There is NO School Thursday, February 15th and Friday, February 16th for all students due to Teacher’s Convention.
  • There is also NO school on Monday, February 19th due to the Family Day Holiday. Enjoy your long weekend.
  • Cranston School is now a lottery school for the 2024-2025 school year. In order to be considered for the lottery all new student registrations need to be completed by noon on February 13th. We are asking all current parents that have children starting school fall of 2024 to please complete your registration prior to this deadline. This applies to NEW Kindergarten – Grade 4 registrations only. All those students currently attending Cranston School in Kindergarten – Grade 3 remain at Cranston School.  All registration details are on the CBE website at https://cbe.ab.ca/registration/registration/Pages/new-students.aspx
  • 2024 – 2025 Family Questionnaire went home on Tuesday, January 23rd. Thank you to all of those that have returned it. This information helps us to plan for staffing, creating grade teams and class lists. We ask that the outstanding forms be returned to the school by Wednesday, February 14th.
  • Subway is the fun lunch for those that ordered it this week. Please remember to pack your child snacks! Dates for each class are as follows:
    • February 13th – All grade 1’s, all grade 5’s, Dei Cont and James
    • February 14th  – All grade 2’s, all grade 4’s, McIntosh, Parliament and Sedgewick
  • Report cards are online and available for viewing. We have noticed many parents not logging in to view this important information. We encourage you all to take a look to see how your child(ren) are progressing.
  • Starting Friday, February 9th Parents and guardians will be able to register to volunteer online in the School Engage tab in their MyCBE account. Members of the community without a child in the system can also create a School Engage account to utilize this program. Once volunteers have created an account they can request and receive their volunteer letter required to obtain their police security clearance. Schools will continue to follow the process for generating letters. There are no changes, at this time, to the ePIC application and payment process, currently outlined on the CBE Volunteer InSite page and managed by Calgary Police Service.Once volunteers have their police information check and vulnerable sector clearance document (PIC VS), it can be uploaded and shared directly with the school through the SchoolEngage account.

The grade three, four and fives are wrapping up our unit on the barred instruments.  Ask your student if they can remember the name of one of the songs they played.

In grade two, Ms. MacEwen and Ms. Buchanan’s class have been working on a hip hop dance to present at our Black History Month assembly.

The kindergarten and grade one students met to continue working on our songs for our upcoming concert.
